Oahu, Hawaii. Soil Conservation and Erosion Control project in partnership with USDA’s NRCS.
Transformed this degraded steep hillside from invasive dominated to beautiful and diverse landscape. Species included native dryland species and Polynesian introduced food trees. Habitat was established for a variety of beneficial pollinators. Soil erosion was ultimately reduced from 13.8 tons per year to .25 tons per year (within USDA acceptable soil loss tolerance).
